Church Covenant_edited.jpg

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyously enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the Ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of, intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer, to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian Courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church were we can carry out the Spirit of this Covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Our Vision.jpg
  • That Owens Chapel will be a loving place where people of God have a servant attitude and are committed to helping to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

  • That Owens Chapel will become a church without walls that reaches out into the surrounding neighborhood and community to show the love of Jesus to all mankind, including those who are the least, the lost, and the left behind in our midst.

  • That Owens Chapel will be a praying church that is filled with the power of God to do all that He requires of us.

  • That we will have the kind of anointed worship service where people are blessed, healed and delivered from demon possessions and drug and alcohol addictions.

  • That we will have a Children's Church where children ages ten and under carry out a full worship service under the guidance of adults who will help them do arts and crafts and participate in various religious activities during the time that the adults are in their service.

  • That we will have an active and viable Brotherhood Ministry.

  • That we will begin a weekly radio broadcast so that the word of God can go forth from this sanctuary to reach people in this community and beyond.

  • That we will have monthly activities for our youth to get together and have fun with their Owens Chapel family, and other youth from the community.

  • That we will organize a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troop in our church.

  • That we will eventually have a full-time secretary on duty at our church during each day of the week.

  • That we will have an after-school tutoring program for youth in our church who are struggling in school.

  • That we participate in large numbers in the Progressive National Baptist Convention and other educational/inspirational programs, seminars, and workshops that will help our church grow in the knowledge of how to more effectively carry out our mission.

  • That we have an annual "fun" trip for our church, which one day may be in the form of a cruise.

  • That we will begin a tutoring and mentoring program at Ed White Middle School and West Mastin Lake Elementary School to make a positive difference in the lives of children who attend those schools.
